Pembrokeshire is perfect in Spring
If there's one time of the year when Pembrokeshire is at its very best, it's right now, until the end of May and early June.
The days are beginning to lengthen, the first rays of warm spring sunshine banish the winter blues and this is when two of the most remarkable annual events coincide: a stunning flush of spring flowers and the arrival of thousands of Puffins.
Carpets of sea squill and thrift cover the coast path but Skomer Island, just off the west coast, is the place to go. You can get up close to the Puffins and wade through a sea of bluebells and pink campion.
There's one other big plus in visiting at this time of year: there won't be many holidaymakers around! Wait until July and you've missed the boat. The flowers have set seed and the Puffins have left for the open ocean.
